chunky apple-mush.

hello to the crisp cool air of october. when i was young, i always said that winter was my favorite season. looking back, winter was full of snow days, christmas, my birthday. no wonder i loved it. as i got older, summer was my fave. being a teen – soaking up the sun, beach days, summer vacation? summer was the goal of every year. now that i’m settling into adulthood i am truly in love with the way autumn sparks my soul. everything gets a little bit cozier, a little bit warmer, ironically as the temperature drops. there is something to the smell of dried leaves, the heater kicking on for the first time, the way that pumpkin gush softens your hands. it makes my heart happy. i become nostalgic for the autumns past. one thing that reminds me of the comfort of home is home cooking. realistically, with the chaos of life, this is not always realistic. one of my favorite easy fall recipe is this apple mush. there is virtually one ingredient, smells the house up, and tastes SO freaking good. for this, all you need is a bushel of apples, cinnamon, and a crock pot. you can choose how chunky you want your mush. this is delicious on oatmeal, ice cream, pancakes, french toast, with caramel, or just by itself.

 Chunky Apple Mush
prep: 5 min
cook: 4-6 hours

ingredients:
10-12 apples (i love granny smith)
2 tablespoons of cinnamon
1/4 cup of water

instructions:
1. DICE up your apples (i like to keep the skin on)
2.TOSS the diced apples and cinnamon and water in your slow cooker
3.COOK on low for 4-6 until the apples are your desired consistency.
